El Primer Dia

Hola from Peru! Today we had lots of interesting adventures. Our $10.00 night hotel (breakfast included) is our home base. Bailey, Sarah's dog, pays more for his accomodations than us! We are a short walk down from the Pacific Ocean, where we had lunch and dinner! Miraflores ( a city right outside Lima) has lots of shopping, beautiful scenery, and great food and drinks. The food is great. However, Ann and Sarah should have listened to the guidebooks when they said NOT to eat fresh vegetables! They are paying the price today (Day 2)! After lunch we went to Kennedy Park, where there was a great art exhibit, with photography from all over the world. After 20 minutes of trying to get on a bus to Lima, we found a taxi and hopped in. It was a crazy ride. Advice to anyone wanting to take a taxi in South America...Take anti-anxiety medication before entering! We took a walk through a couple of squares in Lima (one was beautiful and all lit up at night) and then basically got out of there as soon as possible when we noticed we were the only "Gringas" within blocks! We were happy to be back in Miraflores. Hasta pronto!
