Arequipa Earthquake
Unfortunately, Peru is an earthquake zone and tremors seem to be quite normal around here. Peru has long history of devastating tremors and earthquakes that have destroyed cities and resulted in loss of life. As many of you may know, if you tried to google information about the lastest one in Arequipa, it sounds like most people were uninjured; however, the news reports here say that the earthquake caused a bus to go off the road, killing 6. We didn't feel the earthquake here in Cusco and actually some of you seemed to know before we did... judging from the time posted on your comments. We just wanted to write a short post since it sounded like many of you were concerned.

Glad to hear everyone is safe. Here is a message from Momma Bish that she wanted me to relay to you...Also, tell the girls that their trip sounds spectacular, we enjoyed reading their blog and we miss seeing them at Abbey Springs.
Later gals!
Beth
HI girls, I am so glad you are doing well. I have not been able to read your blog very often because I don't really have internet now that I am at my parents. Oh the joys! I did get to read them today at work, don't tell the boss. You girls are so funny and I am glad you are enjoying your adventure. I wish I was there. Lloyd I wanted to tell you that we picked a date for the wedding September 12, 2009 and my sister is pregnant again and due around your birthday. We still have not started our house and I am still unemployed(the bank doesn't count). I have it marked in my calander when you are coming home and I can't wait to see all the pics and hear more stories. I am so glad you are giving back to the people in Peru. YOu are all so caring and giving. Have fun!
Miss you,
Melissa
